LigaSys is a sports performance company built around a single conviction: that the tools protecting athletes should be as dynamic and responsive as athletes themselves. We develop Smart Ligament™ systems—reactive wearable hardware that integrates into athletic garments and engages mechanically in real time when dangerous joint motion is detected. Not after the fact. Not with passive constraint. In the moment it actually counts.
We are an engineering-first company that takes the problem seriously. Our work draws on the same design discipline used in regulated medical devices—rigorous, testable, and held to a high standard—applied to the performance wearable context. We are working with athletes, coaches, and sports medicine professionals to develop, test, and refine technology that earns its place on the field or court.

Sami Balbaky
CEO, Co-FounderSami leads LigaSys’ technical vision and product development. He brings two decades of experience building and shipping FDA-cleared wearable devices—the kind of background that understands not just how to design hardware, but how to design it right. As a competitive recreational soccer player, Sami came to this problem the way the best hardware founders often do: by living it on the field.
COO, Co-FounderNikhil Karmarkar
Nikhil leads product strategy, operations, and go-to-market at LigaSys. He draws on more than 15 years in medical technology and regulated health-tech—including work on the Zio cardiac wearable at iRhythm—combined with a deep grounding in biomechanics. An all-terrain distance runner, he understands firsthand what athletes ask of their bodies, and what it takes to move from validated concept to the demands of real-world use.
